Welcome...

So glad you chose to stop by!

I hope to use this blog to share some of my handmade cards as well as some of my scrapbook pages and maybe a few pics here and there that may or may not make it to a scrapbook page.

Scrapping for me is simply a fun hobby that I don't do often enough. More often than not, I'm a collector of all things scrap... i.e. tools, paper, embellishments...

Now to become motivated... Maybe this blog is just the way to do it...

Enjoy and come back SOON!

Jungle - Kids Bday... CCC #89

A new challenge has been posted on the Cricut Cardz Challenge site. This week the challenge is to create a child's birtday card using something you'd see in the jungle. You may use any cartridge and any colors that you like.

I kept it pretty simple this week. I used the lion from the Cricut Life's a Party Cartridge, the grass is from Plantin Schoolbook and the balloon came from George. I think the lion cut is so cute.

Don't forget to stop by the CCC site and see the other inspirations. Feel free to join in, we'd love to see your take on this challenge.

Enjoy...

For My Reserve... Cutting Cafe

I'm such a last minute card maker, but my goal has always been to have several kinds of cards on hand so when an occasion arises, I can just pull one from my reserve. This card will be part of my reserve. I chose not to put a sentiment on it until I decide how it will be used. It may be a kiddie birthday card, it may be a baby shower card... Who knows? At least the card is ready occasion come what may.

This cut comes from none other than the The Cutting Cafe and is called Dress Shaped Card 2 Cutting File. It comes with lots of accesories so you can mix and match as much as you like. Or you can do like I did and add some things from your scrapbooking stash. While I was at it, I decided to add a matching envelope... Why not??? The envelope is part of the Dress Shaped Card 2 set. How fabulous is that?

Party TIME...The Cutting Cafe

It's birthday party time and giving a handmade birthday cards is always a nice touch. I made this card using the pattern pieces for the Alarm Clock Shaped Card Template from The Cutting Cafe. I also added the party hat image to the clock face. The party hat image is from another Cutting Cafe set called Birthday Fun Set. I combined the images with some paper from my stash and it is done! I really love these sets together!

This week @ CCC, it's all about the kids. Your challenge is to make a Valentine's Day card for a child. That's it!!! You can use any cartridge and any colors you like.

I chose to use the Smiley Cards cartridge for the ice cream cone and the Paisley cartridge for the heart.

Teacher Appreciation Cards…

This set means a card / gift a day during Teacher Appreciation week for my niece’s Kindergarten teacher. JuliAna (that’s the niece) is a lover of animals so EVERYTHING has to have an animal theme. She picked out all of the animals for the cards and was very pleased with herself I might add. Her mother and I were able to sneak in the cupcake gift box because she happened to be engrossed in a Scooby Doo marathon at the time. She did; however, take breaks during commercials to do a little embossing for me… I refer to her as my little “Cuttlebug-ler”. She says she’s putting bumps on the paper. Either way we are in sync! We used Create A Critter and Sweet Treats for most of the cuts.

The Sweetest Birthday… 2S4Y Kazan # 45

I love making round cards so I really enjoyed the sketch @ 2 Sketches 4 You this week. I chose to make a circle birthday card. I used the Cricut Sweet Treats Cartridge for the scalloped circle (flower) as well as the cupcake. I really like that cartridge. It's got so many fun cuts.

Two Years Young... Birthday Card

Here’s a little birthday card that I made for a friend’s son who is turning two. I used the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge for the car and I used the Celebrations cartridge for the balloon (it’s been a long time since I used that one!). I typically struggle with kiddie cards and this time was no different! In the end, I like the finished product. Hope you do too.

CUTTLEBUG Meets CUPCAKE...Be Inspired #24

This week I decided to participate in one of the Cuttlebug challenges at The Cuttlebug Challenge Spot. This week’s challenge was to use the ever so popular cupcake as part of the design.

I LOVE making shaped cards so I chose to do a Cupcake shaped card and use the Cuttlebug embossing on the frosting as well as the cupcake wrapper (pretty hard to see with the patterned paper)…

The cupcake was cut with my Pazzles machine using the DB Love Pastries font. This was a fun challenge especially since I use my Cuttlebug on most of my cards.

Until next time,

The FAMILIAR...

This is the third card in as many weeks that I made with this design. Why…??? Well, number one, I like the design. And number two, the original design of this card didn’t quite turn out the way I envisioned. So in cases like these, I always go back to the FAMILIAR.

That's another card down with more to come.

SUPERSTAR Birthday...

Here’s a simple little birthday card for my friends son. It’s such a struggle to do masculine cards, but I think this paper looks really “boyish”… Anyway I used the Cuttlebug for the top part of the card and I used the Freedom pattern from the Crate Paper (Hampton Collection)… The star was cut from a pre-loaded Pazzles shape… And I added a little jute around the star…

Until next time...

Little Dress for a Little DIVA….

Wow, where did the time go…? Seems like I was just frantically completing cards for September birthdays and here it is October already.

Anyway, the idea to do this card came from browsing the Bitten By the Bug site… I chose to use the dress from the Cricut “Happily Ever After Cartidge” to make a dress card. My “pseudo” niece is turning 4. Since she’s a little diva princess, I thought this dress cut would be perfect.

OK… who am I kidding…? She’s 4. I know the card is not as important as the gift…

Nonetheless… Enjoy!

Who’s #1…? JOSEPH's #1

If you’ve visited my blog before you’ve seen several cards where Joseph is the focal… Well today he’s the little man of honor because he turned ONE!!! His Mommy and Daddy planned a birthday bash for him… Don’t know about you, but I’m of the opinion that all super special one year olds should have super special personalized cards.

The first one is a party hat that started as a piece of clipart and was converted using my Pazzles. The pictures on the hat were taken from Joseph’s Blog.

The train on the second card comes from the New Arrivals Cricut Cartridge. Got the idea of using the New Arrivals train from Regina Easter’s Bitten By The Bug (BBTB) Challenge.

And finally, the last card is a simple card made using the Pazzles machine.

365 Days - That's ALL...

This card was made for a precious little boy who’s been in the world 365 days… that’s all!!! Yep, he turned a year old and is just the cutest bright eyed little boy… Aren’t kids just precious and loveable and deserving of their very own personalized birthday card?

So for this card, I couldn’t resist trying a little more digi paper. How cool is that…? If I don’t have the right colors in stock, I can just surf until I find some that I want… Works for me…

The card was made using a few Cricut Cartridges and I had to rely on my trusted Cricut Design Studio to bring it all together (welded that is…)

Gift Card in a card… in a card… in a card…

I came across the embedded / layered card idea in the “Girlfriends Greetings” card idea book. The idea seemed fun and I knew it would be perfect for my current challenge. But most of all, I thought it would make the teenage recipient work just a little before he got to the one thing that matters most… the gift card…

The challenge was to use song lyrics in one of our creations. There wasn’t a stipulation on the creation itself; however, the song had to be from the 1970’s.

I chose Stevie Wonder’s 1973 rendition of “You are the Sunshine of my Life”. Each card contains a line from the song and the final card holds the gift card.

Card for JuliAna

My girlfriend's daughter turned 3 recently. This is the card that I made for her. The scallop and bear were cut with the Cricut Expression. Plantain Schoolbook and Doodlecharms cartridges were used.

As much as I liked making the card, I'm pretty sure JuliAna was more concerned about her gift... That's a 3 year old for ya!
