Welcome...

So glad you chose to stop by!

I hope to use this blog to share some of my handmade cards as well as some of my scrapbook pages and maybe a few pics here and there that may or may not make it to a scrapbook page.

Scrapping for me is simply a fun hobby that I don't do often enough. More often than not, I'm a collector of all things scrap... i.e. tools, paper, embellishments...

Now to become motivated... Maybe this blog is just the way to do it...

Enjoy and come back SOON!

January Birthdays... Here I come...

I'm getting a head start on my January birthday cards. I used the newly released "Tie the Knot" Cricut cartridge for the cake. Wedding cake... Birthday cake... In the case of this die cut, the two are certainly interchangeable.

The Perfect Dress...

I love this little dress card. I've made it before in other colors, but I never get tired of seeing the finished product. I guess creating this card appeals to the youthful side of my personality. You know the side that refuses to stay suppressed? Inevitably, it comes out of hiding. Whatever the reasons, I know it won't the last time that I make this little number.

Enjoy...

Quick Note...

This one was really quick. A card base, a couple of pieces of cardstock, Nestabilities and ribbon (of course). And it all adds up to a nice way of letting someone know that they're important. Not bad...

He's Making a List...

I guess I can't get enough of the Santa suits. After this card, I'm gonna force myself to break the habit. One more Christmas card done and lots more to go. Gotta keep moving...

Enjoy...

The Sweetest Birthday...

This is a really quick birthday card that I made. I used the Cricut "From My Kitchen" catridge for the cake. More to come...

I’m LATE – For a Very Important Date…

The title for this card, taken from that famous line in "Alice in Wonderland", is very appropriate for this belated birthday wish. The turtle ( a clear departure from Alice in Wonderland) was cut from the much awaited Cricut Paisley cartridge. I couldn’t wait for this cartridge to be released! Love it thus far!

Well, I’ve got Christmas cards to make, but I thought I’d stop by and give my blog some much needed attention.

Just Playing Around...

Here’s another cut from the Cricut Wild Card Cartridge. The cartridge was released a while ago, but it’s suddenly becoming a favorite. This is the “present cut”. Well off to see what else Wild Card has to offer. Stay tuned.

Heaven Sent...

Well, I’m baby shower bound so a card is in order. It’s been a while since I’ve done a baby card and I wanted to make it a kinda fun card. This cute pink giraffe was cut from the Zooballa Cricut cartridge. Yep, that’s right – a pink giraffe because the color scheme (not facts) is the only thing that matters…

Enjoy!

Owl Card...Birthday

Cricut has come out with so many new cartridges that I sometimes forget the wonderful cuts available on the “not so new” cartridges. I needed a cutesy / fun card for the birthday of a coworker. I think this owl shaped card did the trick. Both the card and the envelope were cut from the Cricut Wild Card cartridge.

Have YOUR Cake... CPS # 135

This week’s sketch @ the Card Positioning Systems site was perfect for the male birthday card that I needed to make. I always struggle with masculine cards because I’m really a flowers, bling, and ribbon kinda girl. This card proves; masculine or not, I just can’t break the ribbon habit! Oh well…

Anyway, the patterned paper is 7 Gypsies and the cake & plate come from the Cricut "From My Kitchen" cartridge.

Friend Birthday...

I made these cards for my scrapping buddy, Karen's, birthday. Karen's sister asked that I make one for her as well. I found the Sister saying on line and thought it was perfect for their relationship. Anyway, I loved the colors so much that I made both cards using the same paper.

Well, lots going on. Just wanted to do a quick post.

No SUNSHINE...2S4Y Laura #34

This week I decided to play along with everyone @ the 2 Sketches 4 You site. I’ve got quite a few cards to make and a little inspiration never hurt anyone. This card is for one of my co-workers who just had surgery. The office is not the same when she’s absent so I used the rain frog that I got from myscrapchick.com and I chose the sentiment “ain’t no sunshine when you’re gone”.

Enjoy…

Girls with Tools… Shaped Card

This card was so fun to make and it’s actually a joke among my friends. One of my BFFs loves to dress up, loves to accessorize, loves girly stuff, yet she’s also a handy girl of sorts. She can fix things, build things, change tires – YOU NAME IT!!! Every year I tell her that I’m getting her a tool belt for Christmas. Of course I never do although she doesn’t seem offended with the joke.

Anyway, this card celebrates her love of Macys coupled with her love of Home Depot. I cut the dress from the Happily Ever After Cricut Cartridge and the hammer comes from Every Day Paper Dolls.

She thought the card was hilarious.

Enjoy...

Quick Window Card...

Window cards were once a favorite of mine, but I haven’t done them in along time. I covered the window with acetate and ran it through the Cuttlebug. The paper pile is getting lower! Gotta make room.

Enjoy...

Cherish the Moment...

Yep, that’s right… It’s another layout. Funny, when I started scrapping, I did only layouts and somehow I ventured down the path of card making only. Meanwhile, I’ve got so many cherished moments that I’ve captured in pictures but haven’t yet scrapped. Yeah, I should be busy for a while.

This LO is based on an older sketch from “Triple the Sketch”. Even though I don’t always do the LOs, I still print the sketches to use when I need a creative jump-start.

What’s The Scoop? - CB Be Inspired #45

The Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #45 was perfect this week. I really enjoy making shaped cards so I couldn’t wait to participate. I made an ice cream shaped cartridge using the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge and Cricut Design Studio Software. I also used the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots and Swirls embossing folders for a little texture. This one was fun!

Clearing out scraps AGAIN... 2S4Y Kazan #33

Boy do those scraps pile up quickly! So, I’m on a mission to lower the stack once again. You know the routine... Lower the stack to make rooom for new paper and new scraps. It’s a vicious cycle, but I’m in it for the long haul. This card is based on 2S4Y Kazan #33. Great sketch!

Enjoy...

True Blue...

I rarely post layouts. Umm, that’s probably because I rarely do layouts. Well, I’ve set some goals for myself because I have so many great memories that I want to preserve. This LO is titled “True Blue Friends”. I chose this title because that’s exactly what they’ve been to me. The journaling simply reads: “With this group, I’ve been through the thick and the thicker! I’d definitely say that we are “True Blue” friends.”

The LO is based on one of the August PageMaps sketches.

Two Years Young... Birthday Card

Here’s a little birthday card that I made for a friend’s son who is turning two. I used the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge for the car and I used the Celebrations cartridge for the balloon (it’s been a long time since I used that one!). I typically struggle with kiddie cards and this time was no different! In the end, I like the finished product. Hope you do too.

Flower Pot Gift Card Holder…

I got the idea of a Flower Pot Card from the Splitcoast Stampers site; but I didn’t make a card. Instead I made a flower pot gift card holder. The flowers on the pot are actually attached to an insert that pulls out. I adhered the gift card to the insert with a glue dot and I was done. This was quick, easy, and pretty fun to make.

For the flowers and stems, I used my Sizzix dies. I bought those dies when I first started scrapping, but over time my electronic die cutting machines replaced the Sizzix dies... It was kinda cool to go back to the basics. I've got plenty more dies where this daisy came from.

Have a WONDERFUL day... Use It #21

Here's a quick card for Use IT Challenge #21. The challenge this week was to:

  1. Use THIS AD as inspiration.

  2. Use a tool that hasn't been used in at least 6 months.

  3. Use alphabet stickers for title or sentiment.

I chose to make a simple card with a huge pale blue flower. The "Hello" sentiment uses Glitter alphabet stickers. I added texture to the brown cardstock with my paper crimper that has been safely tucked away for at least a year now.

TFL... Enjoy...

Birthday Sentiments... 2S4Y Laura #31

Have a good one…

Simplicity...

Here's another July Bday card. I cut a scalloped frame for the card front. You know I really need to get another obsession, but I love scallops. Anyway I added a simple sentiment and a couple of flowers and it’s a wrap… At least for this one.

Enjoy!

July ALREADY??? – Use IT Challenge #16

Can’t believe we’re already 7 months into 2009!!! Where does the time go??? Well, time to get those July birthday cards done. Here’s my first of the month. This card was done for the Use It Challenges Blog. For this challenge we had to:

  • Use something inspired by nature.

  • Use polka dots.

  • Use our favorite embellishment.

  • Mail our creation to someone special

I’ve got lots and lots of flowers so I used flowers, grass & a ladybug as my nature inspiration. The flowers are Bazzill Bitty Blossoms; the grass is a cut from the Cricut "Plaintain Schoolbook" cartridge, and the ladybug is a cut from the Cricut "Walk in my Garden" cartridge. Polka dots were added with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. My favorite embellishment is ribbon and this card will be going in the mail shortly… Mission accomplished!

Oh Yeah, I know it’s Summer and my card is a bit "Springy", but…

Flower Shaped Card…. RAK Week 4

Our Random Act of Kindness effort is in the final week. This was a great experience and I’ll continue to things like this throughout the year. I chose to make a simple flower shaped card this week. The flower is from the Cricut Hello Kitty cartridge. I used the card feature.

Father’s Day…. Same Design 3 Xs…

Well, if you’ve visited my blog before, you’re probably familiar with my infamous last minute creations. Today is one of those days. Father’s Day cards are done. Got them done pretty quickly because I’m using the “design once repeat often” methodology. At least these are all hand deliveries!

Random Act of Kindness…. Week 3

I’m on target with my third set of RAK cards. I’ve found that it’s easier to get them done if I come up with one theme and stick with that. Well got lots more to do. Just wanted to do a quicky post.

It’s a GOOD Thing… RAK Cards…

It’s always nice to receive cards and it’s even nicer when you don’t expect it. My Sunday School class has started a Random Act of Kindness (RAK) effort to send some cards to those in need of a pick-me-up.

We’ll be sending cards for the entire month of June (and probably beyond). All in all, it’s a good thing. Yep, it’s more blessed to give than to receive!

So to assist me on this scavenger hunt, I stopped by the 2 Sketches site for their 1st Annual Card Showdown. I really love the sketch. It was a challenge, but here’s my contribution...

Birthday Card...2S4Y Kazan Sketch #24

Seems like forever since I participated in the sketch challenge @ 2 Sketches 4 You so I changed that today. Here’s quick little birthday card that I made based on Kazan's Sketch #24. I had fun using this bright GCD Studio Paper. Well, it’s off to the post office for this card.

Happy Scraps...Card Patterns Sketch #8

It seems my scrap pile is higher than my unused paper pile. So I decided to do something about that… I used some of my scrap paper to participate in Card Patterns Sketch #8. The colorful polka dots on the patterned paper seems as if they’d go with a “happy” theme so I used the familiar “Don’t Worry Be Happy” saying.

Well, I’m off to use more scrap paper. Until next time…

CUTTLEBUG Meets CUPCAKE...Be Inspired #24

This week I decided to participate in one of the Cuttlebug challenges at The Cuttlebug Challenge Spot. This week’s challenge was to use the ever so popular cupcake as part of the design.

I LOVE making shaped cards so I chose to do a Cupcake shaped card and use the Cuttlebug embossing on the frosting as well as the cupcake wrapper (pretty hard to see with the patterned paper)…

The cupcake was cut with my Pazzles machine using the DB Love Pastries font. This was a fun challenge especially since I use my Cuttlebug on most of my cards.

Until next time,

The FAMILIAR...

This is the third card in as many weeks that I made with this design. Why…??? Well, number one, I like the design. And number two, the original design of this card didn’t quite turn out the way I envisioned. So in cases like these, I always go back to the FAMILIAR.

That's another card down with more to come.

Enjoy…

3.11.2009

Repetition...

Well, I had a request to duplicate a few of my cards. I’m only posting one of the three because the other cards were the same as the original (same paper, same embellishments, same sentiment…). For the dress card below, I changed the paper and embellishments. This is such a fun card to make. The dress is cut from the DB Sweet Baby Clothes font.

Enjoy…

SUPERSTAR Birthday...

Here’s a simple little birthday card for my friends son. It’s such a struggle to do masculine cards, but I think this paper looks really “boyish”… Anyway I used the Cuttlebug for the top part of the card and I used the Freedom pattern from the Crate Paper (Hampton Collection)… The star was cut from a pre-loaded Pazzles shape… And I added a little jute around the star…

Until next time...
